AIM Group AA1 Regulations
 
1. Regulations
 
  1. These regulations are specific to the AIM specification AA1.
  2. AA1 cars are open cockpit, open wheel, single seat, rear wheel drive,  purpose built race cars with a production based turbo charged engine.
  3. A maximum of 15 crew members may work on a single car each race.
  4. Purposely manipulating the result of a race is strictly prohibited and will result in the exclusion of both cars involved.
2. Engine
  1. All engines are provided by a single supplier chosen by the AIM.
  2. Engine modifications are not permitted.
  3. AIM will adjust engine specifications to achieve approximately 600 bhp.
3. Chassis
  1. The AA1 chassis is a single seat, ground effect bottom, mid engined, carbon fibre monocoque design owned by the AIM.
  2. All Chassis are provided by a single supplier chosen by the AIM.
  3. The chassis includes bodywork, steel brakes, undertray with titanium skid plates, 6 speed paddle shift gearbox with reverse, TV camera, rear rain spray suppressors and rear diffuser.
  4. The included instrument pod includes and electronic speedometer, tachometer, temperature gauge, fuel gauge and AIM telemetry and scoring system.
  5. A functioning on-board starter must be carried during all sessions.
  6. Chassis Modifications are not permitted.
  7. Wheelbase is 2800mm
  8. Width is 2000mm
  9. Fuel Capacity 160L.
  10. Replacement parts must be provided by the designated chassis supplier.
  11. Gear ratios will be set by the AIM prior to each event.
  12. Rear view mirrors of any type are specifically prohibited.
4. Wheels & Tires
  1. Wheels will be supplied by the official wheel supplier as designated by the AIM.
  2. Tires will be supplied by the official tire supplier as designated by the AIM.
  3. Maximum wheel diameter is 457mm.
  4. Maximum tire width is 457mm.
  5. Maximum tire diameter is 670mm.
5. Fuel
  1. All fuel and lubricants will be supplied by the official fuel supplier as designated by the AIM.
  2. Refueling is prohibited during races.
6. Weight
  1. Minimum weight including the driver is 675kg.
7. Identification
  1. Each car will carry it's national flag and it's 3 letter country code.
8. Competition
  1. Races will begin with a staggered standing start.
  2. Races will be of approximately 160km in length.
  3. Qualifying consists of a 1 hour open session and a sequential run session with 1 timed lap
    per car. Starting order is determined by the lowest time from either session.
  4. Each car's signal lights front and rear which will flash alternately when at or below the caution speed and remain on when above the caution speed but at or below the pit speed limit. Changes in status of these lights is transmitted
    to race control via the scoring transmitter. Caution speed is 50km/h, Pit speed will be determined for each individual race.
  5. The blue move over flag will be waved at cars that are a lap down and are being approached by a car on the lead lap. The blue flag will not be waved at any car currently on the lead lap unless it is deemed to have been blocking the leader deliberately.
  6. Each track is divided into sections, if a waved yellow is displayed at the beginning of a section each car must travel through that section at or below the caution speed, a green flag at the beginning of the next section indicates normal racing may resume.
  7. A Red flag indicates the section is not passable and all cars must stop before entering the section, When a red flag is shown at a section, the checkered flag will be shown at start finish indicating the end of the race. Race order for cars that did not complete the lap due to the red flag condition, reverts to the previous lap.
  8. If a race is stopped due to a red flag after 1/4 distance but before 1/2 distance, the remaining half of the total distance is completed as a new race using the original qualifying order, half points are awarded for each of these races. In this case the trophy and champions title of this event are given to the driver who scored the most points in the 2 races, with ties being broken by lowest combined elapsed time (not including red flagged laps).
  9. If a race is red flagged before 1/4 distance, the distance completed is subtracted and the race is re-started in the order the cars were in on the lap previous to the red flag. This situation also applies when a second race, started after 1/4 distance was covered in the first race, is red flagged before it has completed 1/4 of the total original
    event distance. 
  10. If 1/4 of a race cannot be completed without being stopped, but the total distance covered is greater than 1/4, half points will be awarded based on cumulative time of the stopped sessions, not including red flagged laps.
  11. Any car that is deemed to have caused a red flag cannot participate in the remainder of the event.
9. Scoring
  1. In order to be eligible for the Nations championship, all rounds of the championship must be fully participated in.
  2. Each nation may only score their finishes in 66% of the seasons races, or their 8 best finishes in a 12 race season. The exact number of finishes that may be scored will be determined by the AIM prior to the start of the season and may be altered in the event of cancelled races.
  3. Points are awarded as follows from 1st to 8th:  20-16-12-10-8-6-4-2.  1 additional point is awarded to the nation who wins the pole position, and 1 additional point to the nation who records the fastest race lap.
  4. If a race has completed 1/4 of it's scheduled distance and cannot be completed, half points are awarded in each championship. 
  5. If a race has completed 1/2 of it's scheduled distance and cannot be completed, full points are awarded.
  6. The Nations world championship will be awarded to the Nation that scores the most combined points in the gentlemens and ladies races after scores are dropped.
